Getting To the Exumas

Where is Exuma? --- The Bahamas!

The Exuma Islands are an archipelago of 365 islands and cays -- and home to some of the finest boating, fishing and diving in the world. The wide variety of underwater topography, coral reefs and shipwrecks makes it one of the most spectacular places. Exuma is approximately 57 miles long and 5 miles wide at its widest section. The Island is 585 nautical miles Southeast of Miami and is within a few miles of the Tropic of Cancer. George Town is the hub of activity for the island and is located on beautiful Elizabeth Harbor, home of the National Family Island Regatta.

How to get there
Exuma International Airport is currently served by American Airlines from Miami,
US Airways from Charlote North Carolina, and Continental Airlines and Lynx Airlines from Fort Lauderdale. It is an hour and fifteen minute flight to Exuma. Contact any of these airlines to check for air fare bargains....and REMEMBER...anyone coming to the Bahamas starting January 23, 2007 MUST have a PASSPORT! Apply for yours TODAY!

On your arrival
You will have to go through Bahamas Immigration and Customs and answer the following questions:

• Where are you staying?  Tell them you are staying at the Breezy Hill on Breakwater Drive near Farmer's Hill.

• What is your citizenship? Present your proof of citizenship by a Passport (January 23, 2007) and/or photo Driver's License.

• What do you have to declare? Customs will ask you what you have to declare---You have nothing to declare! All that you have packed are your personal belongings.

Once you have cleared Customs, you can rent a car, or take a taxi to Breakwater Drive, Taylor’s Breezy Hill Exuma.

What To Bring With You To The Island
Identification

Clothing
Dress is casual, so shorts and summer tops are fine. Fancy clothes are not necessary. You can attend any of the restaurants or religious services in shorts! It can get cool at night, long pants and a light jacket or sweater are recommended. You should bring walking shoes, sandals, beach shoes, and towels for the beach.  Last, but not least, bring a bathing suit or two.

Food
It is wise to bring an ice chest with a supply of meat that will get you through the length of your stay. Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Steaks, or Chicken Patties.  We have a barbeque grill available. Most airlines do not accept dry ice, so you will have to freeze and pack the meat in regular ice or in a collapsible cooler. Specialty foods should also be included.

Health and Beauty Needs
Prescription Medications - Bring a supply that will last you several days beyond your departure date. As an international traveler, you must anticipate delays. Remember to bring antihistamines and any other allergy medications you might need.

For the Ladies - very little makeup and hairstyling equipment, shampoo, conditioner, creams, soaps, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant.

For the Gents - razor blades, shaving cream, after-shave, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant.

Bring your favorite movies, or we also have a selection of tapes that you may choose to borrow from the "Main House" for the night. Satellite TV is also available.

Swim Gear
You may want to bring a facemask & snorkel, but fins are optional. If you are a scuba diver, bring your REGULATOR and BC. You can rent air tanks with proper identification. Rubber booties make walking on the coral much more comfortable. Wearing your swimsuit can be optional on the right beaches!

Fishing Equipment
Bring your own rods and reels or rent them on the island. You can fish off of the shore or you can rent a boat or a charter for the day. The fishing is great in Exuma!

Photo Equipment
Bring your cameras and plenty of film. Disposable underwater cameras produce great results if you want to capture your undersea adventures.
